St. Joseph’s College is a highly successful, over subscribed, mixed Catholic 11-18 school. The examination results are outstanding. The Ofsted inspection of December 2008 rated St Joseph’s College as Outstanding in every respect. The inspectors had the following to say about the school:
‘The Catholic ethos underpins the work
of the school and the school successfully develops the whole person and strives for academic
excellence. It embraces and celebrates diversity and thus the school is a well-ordered and very
happy community and all beliefs and values are respected. Relationships between staff and
students and amongst students are superb. Students' personal development and well-being
are exceptional.’

The school was founded by the Christian Brothers in 1932. As a Catholic School we are inspired in our mission by the vision of life that is found in the teaching of the Gospel, the Church and in Jesus who came that we "may have life and have it to the full".(John 10:10) In striving to fulfil this mission we continue the work of the Christian Brothers and its founder Blessed Edmund Rice. St Joseph's College seeks to develop the whole person and as a result the pastoral care of our students is of paramount importance.
We are proud to have achieved Science College status in September 2004.
We are supported by a lively Parents, Teachers and Friends Association (PTFA) who arrange a number of events throughout the year. These, together with other school events, can be seen in our School Calendar and News pages.
You may wish to read the latest letter sent to parents from our Headteacher Ms Maguire. For the use of present pupils and their families, a variety of school documents are also available for download.
Our vibrant Sixth Form offers a wide range of subjects which prepare our students for adult life. We are proud to have a number of high achieving past pupils who are regularly brought together in reunion events.
As the school is over-subscribed, It is very important that any applications to St. Joseph’s College are made after having read the full admissions information.
